Terms of Use

Last updated: 3 November 2026

These terms apply when you use the Bonding Tunes app, the Bonding Tunes+ subscription and the websites bondingtunes.com and go.bondingtunes.com (together, “Bonding Tunes”). By downloading or using Bonding Tunes, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Bonding Tunes.

1. Who we are

Bonding Tunes is made by SmartID Technologies B.V. (“SmartID”, “we”, “us”), Leliegracht 32, 1015 DG Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) no. 74371908. How we handle your data is explained in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

2. Who can use Bonding Tunes

You must be at least 16 years old to use Bonding Tunes. Some question packs touch on dating, romance and alcohol.

3. What Bonding Tunes is

Bonding Tunes is a music app for groups. A host opens a room, the others join with its code or QR code, everyone answers a question with a song, and the group listens together.

Songs are found in Apple’s music catalogue, and 30-second previews are provided by Apple. Full songs play through a music service of your own: Apple Music inside the app on iPhone, or by opening the song in Spotify, YouTube Music or another service. We don’t stream or sell music ourselves. Which songs, previews and links are available depends on Apple and the other services, and can change or be incomplete; matching a song across services can occasionally go wrong.

We keep developing Bonding Tunes, and may add, change or remove features, modes, question packs and questions. Bonding Tunes is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple, Spotify, Google or YouTube.

4. Your account

The app creates an account for you automatically, without asking for any details. You can link it to Sign in with Apple to keep your library when you change phones. Without that, your library is tied to the app on your current phone. You can delete your account and everything saved under it at any time under Settings → Delete my data.

5. Rooms, and what you share in them

The name you play under, the songs you pick, your answers and, in the guessing mode, your guesses and points are visible to everyone in the room, and each of them keeps a copy of the session in their library. Choose a name you are happy for the group to see. Don’t use a name that is offensive or hateful, or that pretends to be someone else.

You keep whatever rights you have in what you add. You allow us to store it and show it to the people in your room and in their libraries, which is needed to run Bonding Tunes, and to use answers without names or account IDs to compile statistics and improve the question packs, as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Music services

Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music and other services are run by other companies, under their own terms. You need your own account with them, and for full songs usually a subscription, and you must follow their terms when you use them through Bonding Tunes.

Music is protected by copyright. Bonding Tunes is meant for listening with friends in private. If you play music in a public or commercial setting, such as a bar, a shop or a ticketed event, getting any licence that requires is your responsibility.

7. Your licence to use the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the Bonding Tunes app on devices you own or control, for private, non-commercial use. Except where the law allows it, you may not copy, modify, sell, rent or sublicense the app, reverse engineer or decompile it, or remove our notices from it.

8. Bonding Tunes+

Bonding Tunes is free to use within limits. Bonding Tunes+ is an optional subscription that unlocks the paid question packs and lifts the free version’s limits on hosting and rounds. When you host with Bonding Tunes+, everyone in your room uses its features in that room. The app shows exactly what is included before you buy. We may change what the free version includes, but not what is included in a period you have already paid for.

  • Plans and prices. Bonding Tunes+ is offered as a weekly or a yearly subscription. The price, including taxes, is shown in the App Store or Google Play before you confirm. Apple or Google charges your store account; we never receive your payment details.
  • Free trial. Where a free trial is offered and you are eligible, it turns into a paid subscription automatically when it ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the trial.
  • Automatic renewal. A subscription renews automatically for the same period at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your store account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Cancelling. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID’s subscription settings or in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel it. After you cancel, you keep Bonding Tunes+ until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • Restoring. To use Bonding Tunes+ on a new phone with the same store account, tap Restore Purchase in Settings.
  • Price changes apply only to future renewal periods, after you have been told in line with the store’s rules.

9. Right of withdrawal (EU and EEA consumers)

As a consumer in the EU or EEA, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase of digital content or a digital service without giving a reason. When you buy Bonding Tunes+, you ask for it to start straight away. You then agree that your right of withdrawal ends once the service is fully provided, or, for digital content, as soon as delivery starts. The App Store and Google Play purchase screens record this request. This does not affect your legal rights if Bonding Tunes+ is faulty or not as described.

10. Refunds

Because Apple and Google process all payments, refunds are requested from them, under their refund policies: Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Google in your Google Play order history. Apart from your legal rights and the stores’ policies, payments are not refundable, including unused parts of a subscription period.

11. If you got the app from the Apple App Store

These terms are an agreement between you and SmartID only, not with Apple. SmartID, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app (if any); to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. SmartID, not Apple, is responsible for any claims relating to the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app does not meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation. If a third party claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, SmartID, not Apple, is responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.

You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, including Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

12. If you got the app from Google Play

Your use of the app is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Google is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app. Purchases made through Google Play follow Google Play’s payment and refund policies.

13. Using Bonding Tunes fairly

Don’t use Bonding Tunes to break the law, to harass, hurt or embarrass others, or to get into rooms you weren’t invited to. Don’t interfere with our servers, try to get around the limits of the free version or the access rules of our systems, or scrape or copy our questions or data with automated tools.

Look after each other. Some questions are personal. Nobody has to answer a question or share more than they want to. If your group adds a drinking rule of its own, that is your choice: follow the law, never drink and drive, and never pressure anyone.

14. Our content, and other people’s

The questions, question packs, printed card decks, design, text, graphics, logo and software of Bonding Tunes belong to SmartID or its licensors. Apart from the licence in section 7, these terms give you no rights in them. “Bonding Tunes” and its logo are trademarks of SmartID Technologies B.V.

Songs, artwork and previews belong to their artists, labels and other rights holders, and are provided by Apple under its own licences. Apple Music is a trademark of Apple Inc., Spotify of Spotify AB, and YouTube of Google LLC.

If you buy a printed Bonding Tunes card deck, the purchase is covered by the terms of the shop you bought it from. The QR codes on the cards open their questions in the Bonding Tunes app.

15. Other services and links

Bonding Tunes links to and works with services we don’t control, such as music services and the app stores. We are not responsible for their content, availability or terms.

16. No guarantees

We work hard to keep Bonding Tunes running well, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will always be available, free of errors or suitable for a particular purpose. It can be unavailable during maintenance or updates, or when a service it depends on is down. This does not limit your legal rights as a consumer, including your right to digital content and services that conform to the agreement.

17. Our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of Bonding Tunes or from not being able to use it. Our total liability for all claims relating to Bonding Tunes is limited to the amount you paid us for Bonding Tunes in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for intent or gross negligence (opzet of bewuste roekeloosheid), or for anything else that cannot be limited by law, and nothing in them limits your mandatory rights as a consumer.

18. Ending

You can stop using Bonding Tunes at any time; Settings → Delete my data removes your account and library, and remember to cancel any subscription in your store account. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering Bonding Tunes. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you in advance, and if we stop offering Bonding Tunes+ we will act in line with consumer law for any period you have already paid for. Sections 14, 16, 17 and 21 continue to apply after these terms end.

19. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when Bonding Tunes or the law changes. We will tell you about important changes in the app or on our website before they take effect, and update the date at the top. If you don’t agree with the new terms, you can stop using Bonding Tunes and cancel your subscription before they take effect. If you keep using Bonding Tunes after that, the new terms apply.

20. General

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Bonding Tunes. If a part of them turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we can still do so later. We may transfer our rights and obligations to another company as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business, as long as your rights are not reduced.

21. Law and disputes

Dutch law applies to these terms. If you are a consumer living in the EU or EEA, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live. Disputes go to the competent court in Amsterdam, the Netherlands; as a consumer in the EU or EEA you may also go to the courts where you live. If something is wrong, please contact us first; we would much rather solve it with you directly.
